Lar,
==============================
What he's talking about doing it building a Chat program that
lets you talk between multiple Teletype machines, connecting
them over the Internet.
It would be, in effect, like connecting some number of Model 15s
in series, over very long wires.
Not a whole lot unlike that rig the phone switchers use to connect
their stuff.
IP is Internet Protocol. That's the driver level software that lets two
machines talk to each other over the local LAN, or Internet.
Linux is a clone of Bell labs Unix operating system.
Very popular for embedding serious computing horsepower into
non-PC gadgets. Lantronix X-Port is a product that helps you
build Ethernet/Internet hardware into such gadgets, based on
Linux.
