Once again, time will tell. I am familiar with what you are 
telking about - I had a 33 ASR which had the black open 
cell teletype foam under it, and it had turned to what 
looked like carbon granules, which I believe is more caused 
by oil impregnation of the foam tather than heat due to its 
open cell construction. It took forever to clean up.

This is closed cell foam - in other words, oil shouldn't 
settle into it. On the surface is a solid vinyl layer which 
should make it oil-proof.

This material is designed to be used around engine 
compartments which should mean it will resist both oil and 
heat. As I say, time will tell. 

Meanwhile, the sound deadening compared to the old rotten 
cloth covered felt is significant - at least 30% quieter 
than before...
