Hey Jim et al;
I don't believe that to be peculiar to Teletype.
When I retired from a well-known computer company, they were
producing 123 DIFFERENT types of computers.
That's the computer itself and does not include the different
options that could be installed.
Over the years I became more and more amazed what kind of damage
the marketing people can do to a company if they are not throttled.
The best example being the demise of Oldsmobile:
"We're closing the Oldsmobile division because nobody is buying our cars".
When I was a kid, Oldsmobile cars were held in high esteem by the
dads I knew.
If no one is buying your product, but is buying someone else's, maybe
it's time to look at your product line and compare it to what the other
guy is selling - and make some adjustment - and not say: "we're going
to close our doors because no one wants what we make".
