GE OMs;
To Jack Hart - and all the other TTY gurus;
A long time ago I was told that a Teletype machine "running open"
would tear itself apart - but printing normally was fine.
Well, - I'm looking at my 2 28's right now - and I don't see how
"running open" is anymore stressful on it than printing.
When it's running open it just continues to "do its thing" at what
I would call a stable state. It doesn't seem to be under any kind of
stress that would be in excess of what it would be under, under normal
printing conditions - other than it is running at a few OPS more than
it would be while printing data.
What say you?
