[GreenKeys] GreenKeys Digest, Vol 86, Issue 42

Heyo everyone:
You mentioned a vacuum tube computer with Nixie tubes as display?
If someone has a spare PDP-11/{35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 70} and doesn't
want it any more... I'd be glad to try and give the system a nice
"retro" display. With a KSR-33 console interface too! (The systems
mentioned are the ones that have *a lot* of wonderful blinking display
lamps. The 11/70 especially so.)
Though truth be told, the innards of that system would still be
SSI/MSI based, but eh.
Said "plan" could also work on a PDP-8 (an 8, 8/I or 8/L especially,
with the 8/{e, f, m} like the aforementioned '11s), a PDP-12 (just
look at the SIZE of the console on one), a KA-10 or KI-10 model PDP-10
(so many lights...), or a PDP-15 (which is about as impressive as a
PDP-12).
You could even do it to a "calculator panel" PDP-11 or PDP-8/a; but
you'd also have to build the logic for the panel controls too, and
building said logic out of tube would probably give you a control
panel that is the size of the computer you're connecting it to (which
admittedly is only the size of a microwave (to be exact 6U (7.5")
high, by 19" wide, by around 21" deep)).
Ah well, I digress; cheers everyone.
