[GreenKeys] Value of Teletype Machines...

We all need to remember what Lar told me in the past.
Value in these machines is a moving thing. Money itself is a moving
thing.
It is hard to hit a moving target.

I worked for a HIGH top craftsman's salary in 1966 at $107.50 a week.
These machines sold for $1,000 - $2,500 when new.
Todays equivalent dollar value of those 1960-1980 prices would knock
us off the cliff.
I remember my dad having a fit in 1957 when the ethyl at the pump was
75 cents a gallon.

Best,

My mom's '67 Valiant with 44,000 is/was priceless to me....no rust,

inside stored. Today, I started it, first time in a year. I think it
ain't priceless to me anymore and gonna sell it....somehow, I don't
think
any buyer will think it's priceless....and so will go that Model
28ASR. The
market will determine unless, of course, the gov't starts to regulate
these
things too! ! !

I would love to have that machine, so I wrote him asking if he had
slipped
decimal point when he posted his listing. I also inquired if he had
done any
research of recent Teletype market prices. He wrote back this evening
and
appreciated the information I provided, but the machine was priceless
to him
and the price was still $1,000. I guess we will know where to find this
machine in the future. I don't believe it is going anywhere soon.

Cheers,

The good thing about the $1000 KSR is that if the seller thinks it's
that
valuable he won't be dumping it into the landfill right away.
