...or not.  It's stupid to say that people who bid early and don't
snipe are "fools".  After all, if they bid high enough, then the snipe
bids won't register and if they don't bid high enough, they're not out
any money.

If you don't snipe, then you have to be willing to outbid any sniper.
If you snipe, you have to be willing to outbid anyone who bids
manually.

For people who snipe and think they got a great deal by sniping, all
that means is that there wasn't any other sniper willing to outbid you
and there wasn't any other manual bidders willing to bid.
