[GreenKeys] OT: Microsoft to support Windows XP for an additional year...

Gee and here I thought I was all alone in keeping my copies of Win95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2K and XP.  I have a T22 laptop with 98SE on it for the ability to boot to DOS for the Mastr III software I have.  I just put 2K on a motherboard I swapped with my wife to use for drive cloning and testing purposes.  The IT department where I work just swapped laptops with everyone a year ago - swapping Z61's for HP's with Win7 Pro.  I still have my HP with XP Pro that I got 6 months before after the Z61's motherboard died - just bought a replacement off the ePlace.  Out of the 10 fellow engineers where I work that got the new HP's, 4 have already had to have their drives re-imaged after the new Win7 system locked up so tight that not even the main Admin login could get in!  3 of the 4 took 5 tries before the software reload was successful!   Oh and did I mention that I purchased an external drive to put a backup image of my laptop on?

Oh and I still have three versions of MS-DOS install disks too!

And last night I sat staring at my copy of Windows ME, wondering just why I
was bothering to keep the wretched thing.   After some time I realized
that it was only because of my habit to never throw anything away and did a six
foot toss into the wastebasket.

PS   This afternoon I expect a visitor to the radio shack and I
have checked to make sure that the 28KSR is "local loop
operational."   The kid is probably in his early 30's but I doubt that
he has ever seen a teletype machine of any model.   Sad.

I do have one computer running Vista.   And my wife's computer
does run 7---at her request because she runs in circles that "have the
latest".   But the other four in the radio shack (each connected to a
different radio and three running software defined rigs and the two in front of
me in the home office) use XP.   I agree, why change something that
works?
