My point was that as you pull the outer layer of paper off of a roll of 
multi-ply, the rest of it has to go somewhere.  It definitely will not stay on 
the original roll.  The first carbon (unless it is NCR) has to go somewhere. 
 Either you roll it up or you can't recover the second layer of paper.  You 
can't recover the second layer of paper if you don't deal with (wind up) 
the first layer of carbon.  Etc.

Fanfold paper doesn't sit in a paper tray.  At least not in wire service 
driven machines.  It sits in the box it comes in, on the floor under the 
M15RO.  I never saw or heard of a paper tray on a Teletype machine.  Dot-matrix 
tractor feed printers, yes.  Teletype no.
