Hi Everyone,
A week or so ago, a list member asked about who was going to Dayton and if there would be a get-together of Greenkeyers.
The telegraph group that I belong to started doing that a few years ago and we have had a booth at the Dayton Hamvention the last 2 years. This will be our 3rd year.
We demonstrate the instruments, try to teach the visitors a little bit about what we do and then encourage them to participate either by joining our club or using our online virtual telegraph wire. It has been very successful the past few years and I often wondered if a teletype group could do the same thing.
We *plan* to have 3 morse "offices" at the Hamvention this year:
1) The Morse Telegraph Club booth (Booth No. SA-0305 )
2) The Vibroplex booth (right next to the Morse Telegraph Club booth)
3) The Begali key booth
We may not have operators at all booths at all times but we should have a "presence" at all three booths and an operator at the main Morse Telegraph Club booth.
Here is a video of our booth last year....it gets boring after a few moments but it at least shows you what is possible if the greenkeyers wanted to do something. Look how many people are interested in the old gear....

Having a greenkeys booth might be a great way to promote the salvage and use of these wonderful machines. For a fee, you can get an internet connection in Hara Arena (we will have one) and could run ITTY until you were ankle deep in yellow paper.
Hope to see you at the Hamvention!

Derek
