     I found the _exact_ unit in the catalogue section of 
the ARRL _Radio Amateur's Handbook_ 1944 edition. McElroy 
has a long insert in the catalogue section and this 
transmitter is featured on two pages including an 
illustration of its interior. The same mechanism was offered 
as a tape puller.
