[GreenKeys] ASR-33 mounting screws

It's pretty likely you will have to find them from one of our good friends
on this list who stock the parts or can nab them out of a junk unit.

I too searched for a few small mounting screws when I was working on the
punch in one of my '33... and learned that they used almost exclusively
#6-40 thread on these little screws. It seems the only thing you can
buy now is #6-32, a much more coarse thread and any hardware store with
the little parts drawers has never heard of a #6-40.

I also learned that these fine threads... at least #6-40, are sometimes
used in gunsmithing. So there was a chance they could be found at a
gun shop. Additional discovery there though, revealed that these guys
primarily use #5-40. Geesh. And I suspect the screws you need are
bigger and so might not appear in any firearm application anyway.

I'd sure like to hear of a commercial source for machine screws with this
fine thread if such a source still exists. A bazillion of them in the
'33 seem to be 1/2" slotted hex cap head with the #6-40 thread.

It was also suggested to me that you could re-thread, for example, a
#6-32 to a #6-40 with an appropriate die. I did find dies available
online but a good friend on this list was able to supply the part I
needed so I didn't have to go that far.

Good luck with your screw hunt. I started to think I was on a snipe
hunt myself ;-)
