Well, for what it isn't worth, here are four rather poor photos of
an extremely grungy punch cover for a Teletypesetter Multiface
Keyboard Perforator (or at least the sheetmetal surrounding the
punch):

Let me know if you'd like better photos or measurements.  

As you're running a museum, you have an interim alternative.
You could construct a cover of plexiglas (is it plexiglas or perspex
in Canada?)  The placarding could say something on the order of
"The cover of the punch has been removed.  You can see X and Y,
and the operation of Z."  (This carefully omits mentioning the
detail that you don't actually have the punch cover.  As a writer,
my advice is never to trust writers! :-)  As a temporary solution,
it might look rather nice.
