Never know what kind of parts may be inside though and would probably be some very precision ones at that.  The cases are nice for construction projects.

It is a telephone voice circuit test box, usable either a 48VDC dialing loop
or with 2600 cps signalling tone on carrier circuits (multiplex)

Used mainly at Central Office or Toll Test centers.

With today's digital signalling it is no longer used.  About all
it has going for it is as an audio tone generator.
