Be VERY careful which programs you trust to "undelete" your files. Many
are not all they are cracked up to be.
I highly recommend GetDataBack
(http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm). I've used both the
NTFS and FAT versions with astounding success on drives that were going
to the shredder. GetDataBack has no issues recovering files that were
still present after multiple formats going back several years. Good
stuff.
Also, just FYI - a format does not destroy data on a drive. Most off th
eshelf recovery programs (like GetDataBack) have no issue examining the
drive and scraping files from a formatted drive. Even if it's been
formatted multiple times. The only way the data on the drive is gone is
if you have overwritten the files with other data.
I have several copies of GetDataBack, which I would be happy to loan to
you to recover your lost folder/drive.
Good Luck.
