[GreenKeys] End of Telex (but not of Baudot?)

Its just that I do not have any idea really. I know it was there in the
80's (I think) but now I realise its (presumably) gone. I imagine it was
fax that was its final nail in coffin, but if not, email certainly was,
but that wasn't really established until much more recently. Did people
just stop using it or was there a date when it was Internationally
withdrawn and switched off?
Something else that puzzles me, is who the recipients are that still
have to use the 5 level 50 baud teleprinter FSK broadcasting weather
from Germany? It surprises me that anyone would still have equipment on
board ship that used this system.
