Hey Steve;
I'm afraid I'm going to burst your bubble when I tell you that
no matter how much money you spend, and what you get, you're going
to have 2 problems:
o 99.99999% of RTTY has gone Internet/e-mail so there is almost nothing to decode.
o the stuff that hasn't gone Internet/e-mail is encoded and you can't decode it.
Case-in-point: there are several RTTY stations that are coming in here at
20 over S-9. They run 24 hours a day - and have incredible signals.
I can not decode them, nor can I find out what mode they are using and where
I can go to get something to decode them.
I'd pay some serious money to be able to decode them - but I can't find out
what mode they are running. I've checked with ALOT of newsgroups / forums, and
noone can tell me.
I know you've been off-line for many years - but if you still have your ears,
you'll find these stations:
o transmit 850Hz shift.
o transmit short bursts.
o unlike a Teletype machine, while sending there are short pauses.
o send some kind of binary bit pattern after each transmission.
o drop their carrier for a couple of seconds.
o start again with a bit pattern and then transmit their data.
UE,
W6ESE - tony
