Further, the governed motors came in AC and DC versions.  With a 115 VDC 
generator, the generator could supply motor power, relay power and loop supply 
(I have one of the generators).  Plus on the Navy side, during WW-II, older 
combatants and most merchant shipping had DC busses, 115 VDC in the smaller 
vessels and 230 VDC in the larger ones.  Teletype equipment installed on 
these ships would have had DC governed motors.
