John,
I don't remember an Icom 6000.  Do you by chance mean the new IC-7600??  I 
have the IC-7700, which decodes RTTY and has the USB keyboard capability, 
and it does do quite a good job on strong signals, but is not a weak signal 
RTTY decoder.  I always use my HAL ST-8000 when doing "serious RTTY",  and 
use the  FSK already built into the VFO.  It does a great job!!  The 
built-in decoder and USB keyboard is nice for a quick QSO, and monitoring 
the band without having all the gear on and tying up the computer though!!
