Guys,
First problem solved!...thanks to a lot of great help from the reflector....
After an all day project of pulling control board chips and cleaning pins and connectors...I managed to get my hands on a Manual...
Figuring that there is little on the Demodulator board could keep the CPU from completing its boot up...I concentrated on the Control Board. Looking at the Manual, I noticed there is only one user setting on the Control Board...it is the Remote Control Terminal ASCII Rate switch S5...The settings didn't seem to be right as compared to the manual...so I reset them to 9600 baud for starters...
And the CPU finished its boot up sequence...apparently, there was something with the old settings that was interfering with the CPU....by the way, I didn't have anything hooked up to the Remote Connector...so it was the settings on the switch which caused the problem...
It appears I now have a working HAL 8000...
My sincere thanks to you fellows for all the help...without you, this thing would probably have been packed and shipped in the next few days....
Now for integrating it into my PK232 and station....that will be another day.

Guys,
Can someone tell me...or point me in the right direction...regarding the boot-up sequence for the ST8000?...When I turn mine on, it appears to boot and 8000 and Version 1.4...
I am new to the ST8000...so any information would be appreciated....not only for the boot up sequence...but any other information you may have....
I have no documentation to along with this unit, so I am shooting in the blind...
Thanks!
