    I've ordered the evaluation board for the SILabs CP2102
chip to see if this can be reconfigured to talk 45.45 baud.
I think it can.  See this tech note:

And here's the downloadable utility for configuring baud rates:

You have to configure the device to interpret some dummy baud rate
like 1200 baud as the desired baud rate.

Then there's a Linux driver:

This is probably going to be the current solution to the USB to
Teletype problem.  More later.
