What a HOOT!  Regarding testing, etc. when I was designing some products 
a Peavey - I got to meet Dr. Gene Patronis professor of audio at Georgia 
Tech... he is one of the most respected researchers on audio 
reproduction in the field - and he had some rather interesting opinions 
about testing. He noted that the "tester" could have as much of an 
effect on the results of a blind test as the "testees" themselves - 
which is why he  invented the ABX blind test box. By using this device - 
which made A/B comparisons such that no one knew the the true identities 
of A & B until after the test, so that no human could influence the test 
by making biased (even if subconscious) choices when administering tests.
