Hi Eugene,
Here is a quick tip:
Hit the CR key and some slot will show activity. This should be slot 5, counting from right to left as you stand in front of the machine.
then count over further from 5 to 22 and see what you find.

Subject: RE: Model 28 spaces on break or open loop
Hi again.
I took some pictures. I wasn’t sure where to start counting as slot number
ne.
These pictures were taken from the REAR of the unit looking forward. The
SR has more of these slots used.
The screw driver was placed in a somewhat central slot, just to help orient
etween the two photos taken (for continuity in counting if necessary).
ASR Slots (this machine spaces while running open and spaces when receiving
LANK):

KSR Slots (this machine stays put when running open or receiving BLANK):

Can anyone tell what I am missing/need?
TANKS!

Hi Eugene,
Lucky for you that you have two machines to compare. First things f
irst, is
here anything in the ASRs slot 22. If not, that would explain a lot.
Next, note that you should see the function lever actuate when you hit the
lank key open the loop. Compare the KSR to the ASR and you should see what
mean.

i Russ. I tried this experiment. You are right! The ASR does space on
lanks, whereas my KSR does not (KSR seems to work properly). I also put
he loop on, pressed figs then opened the loop. I did this for FIGS and
TRS. In both cases, the carriage spaced over.
o I will now look for slot 22. When you say “working properly” what do you
ean exactly?
hanks!

oes your M28 space on blanks or when the loop is open in both figs and ltrs
ase? Or, maybe in one but not both cases?
This is controlled by slot number 22 - it surpresses spacing on blank
haracters or during an open loop condition or when the break key is held
own.
heck to see what's happening by temporarily lifting the paper roll out of
he way and watching to see if slot 22 is working correctly.

My 28 ASR also spaces along when its open. I think its ok, probably just an
ptional tine or pawl or jig or thingamagiggy
