DO NOT reinvent what you need.,

Search for "Film Splitters" in the world of subminiature cameras..the  
MINOX in particular.

You will find many designs for home made splitters, and ready made  
ones for sale a modest prices that may be modified for the width you  
need.

At the very least, copy the experience of others.
