Thanks to everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) who responded. Most responses were
off-list but you would be amazed at how many responses I received!

Consensus is, CTCSS is something I should not be without. Several folks
mentioned this unit. Looks REALLY REALLY neat.

It's a CTCSS encoder and it is very small. How small do I need it?

The radio I am looking to get is the PRC-128. I am guessing I wont be able
to fit even this tiny kit inside it, so I'll probably hack up an old battery
box to make it work (or fit it inside a battery box most likely).

I will purchase a 2m repeater directory and see if there are any "common"
tones that are used more widely than others (anyone know? Is there any kind
of semi-standard? Seems the US milradios used 150Hz as a semi-standard).

Thanks everyone! Once I get the radio and this kit, I'll see if I can put it
all together. I will do some googling to see if people have put this kit
into an H-189/GR or 250.

Thank you all!
