[GreenKeys] Model 28 ASR tape reader

Hi all:

One by one, I am solving the problems in my 28 ASR.

The next thing I am tackling is the inoperative tape
reader...

Even with the lever in the "free" posiion, the feed wheel
was very hard to turn, and the sixth paper sensing pin was
stuck in the inward position.

I am currently soaking the business end (the one away from
the selector and relay in mineral spirits, and have already
gotten a ton of grunge out of it.

The feed wheel now spins smoothly as it should int he
"free" position, and the paper sensing pin now protrudes in
the "run: position.

Does anyone have a parts diagram or any service or
lubrication bulletins on this reader? It is code LZD 7. In
all the manuals and documents I have been able to find and
download, none cover the reader.

Other than that and a problem with the tape feed on the
tape punch on the machine, the teletype is operational now -
I now have the print centered on the platen, and the only
thing I will have to do is get a new ribbon. (I have WD-
40'd the ribbon, but there isn't enough ink left on it to
flow).

There seems to be an obstruction at the tape out end of the
printer-perforator, which will be my next chore!

But all is coming along nicely. Many thanks to all of the
members of this list who have helped me with this project!

Dave, VY2AC
