Hello some more,
Because of my wife and a couple of emails I'll add a bit of
information, if anyone cares!
I took and passed my 3rd 'phone commercial license test in about 1955,
and sat on it until about 1963 and took and passed the 2nd 'phone. I
took the 1st 'phone but didn't pass it at the same time. The examiner
suggested that I take the first phone and see what happened. I had not
studied for it, but I only missed one question.....the one on AM
broadcast station phasing of antennas. Now much to the dismay of a
couple of friendly BC engineers we all have the yellow
GROL licenses.
My earlier comment on the draft about having too many kids and not
enough fingers was this: Joyce and I had three kids, one later went in
the Air Force. The draft board I reported to was not drafting anyone
with kids. This was about the time of the Cuba problem.
The first couple of weeks after high school, I workedin a machine shop.
There was no OSHA in those days, 1955. I got just one half of my
right index finger forcefully (!) removed in a punch press accident. No
guards, either. I still count by halves....one - one and a half - two -
two and a half. And so it goes. I was able to hold the model 15 up
against the stops at 60WPM anyway. I had the nickname "Stubby" on my
business cards for some time, but finally removed it.
That explains the two comments in my earlier email.
I think that fills in most of the blanks or questions that I've been
asked. Thanx for your interest.
73 Larry
