Not to be pedantic, but the 401 was a Baudot printer made from a ticker.
In WW-II W.U. needed more teleprinters and couldn't get them, and
apparently had a surplus of tickers. Only a few were made, because
W.U. merged with Postal Telegraph and that made available an adequate
supply of regular teleprinters.
Maybe someone with one of the tickers can tell us what model number
W.U. gave it. It doesn't seem to have had a Teletype model number,
because the numbered models were mainly a Bell System thing and the
tickers were not made for the Bell System. It may also have a Teletype
letter code.
