[GreenKeys] Painting cabinets...

My mistake Jerry, I forgot the Navy changed the color at some point.

Earlier Navy stuff is the BR which is almost flat in finish.

The later machines and accessories, such as winders, were finished in
HB. Not sure why the change or when.
The Navy/Air Force machine at the museum, if it still exists, was
finished in BR

The sample I have is of the light gray color but since it has no
stamping I really do not know if it is BR or HB.
Perhaps the government found the smooth vinyl lasted better but I do
not know when the change took place.
I could be that the HB code was created when the vinyl paint first
became available. Just a guess.

Hi Don: You mention that color code HB - light gray smooth vinyl - was
the Navy and late USAF color. Do you know when the HB color code went
into service? Every time that I have looked at a M28 military Teletype
that was finished in light gray and you could see the cabinet code, it
was always coded BR - light gray smooth enamel. The Oct. 1975 Navy
index of teletypewriter machines shows most machines in BR finish and
no mention of color code HB. It would make sense to use HB since it
was a more durable finish but I have not seen it.

I'm always glad to see your posts. Thanks for sharing with the
Greenkeys list. Regards, Jerry Murphy
