Another way to solder tinsel...if you will;

Carefully remove the outside jacket (insulation).

Seperate the conductor from the cotton inside...snip
away the cotton leaving the tinsel

Open a length of standard lamp cord and remove
one strand of the copper conductors

Wrap that one strand around the tinsel from end to
end of the tinsel.

It will take solder nicely and a bit of flux even nicer.

It's not so "fiddly" that way :>)
