Dave,
I went out to my comm shop and took  another look at it, it has the following 
on a brass ID plate:

SIGNAL  CORPS, U.S. ARMY
AN/TGC-1A
Serial number 650

All the machines in  the cabinet are made by Teletype with the exception of 
the rewind motor.
The  cabinet has six MWO's listed on the front access door
