Twenty years ago I bought a Kleinschmidt FGC-20. When invest-
agating why it it was slow, I found after talking to the seller He
put tons of WD-40 on everything.
Where I worked at the time we made automotive car lock pins
and springs. One thing we did was to degrease them in hot
triclorethene. I removed the motor assembly tied a wire around
the machanical parts and dipped it the the triclorethene for a few
seconds.
I then by using an air gun blew all of the chemicals on the the
TTY until completely dry. When I got home I also used thin
3 and 1 oil. Especially on any felts, and used thick automotive
ball joint grease, I believe it was a Shell Oil brand.
I put the motor back, fired it up, adjusted the range finder and
it worked for a few more years.
This is not a recommendation, only what I did. Hope it helps.
