Don,

By your reasoning, the first greenie to put a bid in therefore, locks 
everyone out!!  Thence, that person fails to win and others who would have 
bid higher don't get the object....that's not a good idea at all.

Someone who has all day to cruise the eBay therefore locks out the guy who 
gets home from work to find a greenie "locked" him out by being the first to 
bid!!!  No good.

Folks should bid regardless of who else is in there.  Fair pricing is the 
end result for the seller and the buyer.
