[GreenKeys] M33 2^3 keyboard bit stuck

I've been using my M33 a little more than usual lately as I am developing
some Linux code to talk to it... but in the process, just a day ago,
it began sending (from the keyboard) incorrectly. Not all keys are
messed up but a majority are, and the failure doesn't occur with every
keystroke but maybe 80% of the time.
It appears that the 2^3 (ie, 0x08, 00001000b) bit gets stuck on as
it transmits. This means that '1' turns into '9', 'Q' turns into 'Y',
',' turns into '<', etc.
This happens whether it is in LINE or LOCAL mode and indeed it prints
the incorrect characters if it is in LOCAL mode.
If I hit an affected key enough times, it will eventually send the
correct character but I would say 80% of the time it gets it wrong now.
Any ideas where I should start looking for this one? Sure seems like
a keyboard (aka sending unit) issue to me but I am still learning these
things...
Chris
