Tales from the Teletype Shop....

I remember replacing a dead selenium rectifier in a M19 back in 1969.
The office manager kept pacing back and forth. I told him his machine
will be back in service shortly, but he kept pacing. I finished and
dialed up the test line. This 19 was converted to DTWX in 1962.

He asked me about the smell. I said some of these rectifiers go bad
all at one time and some will let off a little of that smell at a time.

He said "I thought that is what you were going to tell me. I have a
real problem." I said "What is the matter?" He said, "We thought the
operator was unclean and we let her go." I said "Can't you just call
her and explain?" He said "It is not that easy, she is my sister-in-
law."
