[GreenKeys] Update on the TT-98

Heard from quite a few people - and some interest in the TT-98 - though
none in the TUs. A bit of a sea story:

When I first got back to Guam in 1973 - I wanted to get some TTY gear
set up. After some checking around - I found out that a gentleman at
the FAA by the name of Mr. Mace had some TTY gear for sale. I contacted
him - and he said that he'd be glad to fix me up. He offered to sell me
some ex-Air Force gear that he had gotten at a recent surplus sale - and
that he had picked out what he wanted - and I could (must) take the
rest. He offered a price for some KSRs and Reperfs - with spares -
which I accepted. Little did I realize the few I was looking at were the
tip of the proverbial Ice Berg... some 100+ units later - I finally
moved the last of them. The KSRs were all TT-117 - at least all of them
I didn't immediately junk because of being stripped, obviously bashed,
etc. - the handful of Reperfs were TT-179s. By the time I left Guam in
Dec. 1975 - I was down to one each 117 and 179 plus plenty of spares.

After overhauling several dozen - I was pretty familiar with
Kleinschimdts - and still regret selling my 179 typing reperf when I got
out of the Navy in 1978. I liked the 117 as well - but since I had a M28
- the 117 went with the 179.

I'm still looking for a Model 28KSR to replace the one I shouldn't have
sold some time back to a radio station (with the agreement that I have
right to repurchase should the decide to get rid of it - and of course
no one now knows what happened to it). It was tricked out with a lot of
goodies including the on-the-fly shifting three speed transmission, etc.
Live and learn.

Anyway - having "the word" out that I'm looking for "teletype" I hear
about one here in Meridian. Turns out to be the TT-98. As limited as
space is here - I'd still rather have a M28 - so I mentioned the TT-98
here on Greenkeys in case someone else would like to have it.

As noted - I'm fairly familiar with Kleinschmidts from a mechanical
perspective, just not what the difference is between the 98 & the 117.
And I didn't have any idea what the fair "going price" for a 98 (or any
Kleinschmidt for that matter) is today. Heck - I've learned (the hard
way) that prices for 28s are all over the place depending on where and
who has it. I guess that's just the way it is.

SO --- I have a few people interested in the 98; transportation is yet
to be figured out - as is always a factor with these heavy beasts - so
no deals "done" yet. But before any commitments are made - I'll let
everyone on the "interest list" know what's cooking.

I do want to thank everyone for their suggestions and comments here - In
case I missed thanking someone that sent a personal note (there were
many!).

Again thanks!
