Hi, Robert:  That's true, but I think the original question was about 
typewriters
and that's what I noticed on Ebay sales when for a few years I looked 
for Navy Mills.

And "civilians" no doubt have much more access to typewriters than 
TTY machines.

About your last point....  I had two TT-7G Army portables (mod 15's 
with carrying case
that becomes the TTY table).  Couldn't give them away.  Donated them 
to a Military
Air Preservation museum to complement their AAF displays.  Probably 
the best place
for them anyway.   (I did keep my TT-39G Navy models, though) :-)
