Perry,
It doesn't only effect TTY machines and parts. I once had the widow of a
local surplus dealer (whose inherited warehouse I and about three other people
mostly cleaned out) decline to sell me some aircraft antennas because she was
starting some sort of night-club and wanted to use them in some sort of
artsy-fartsy display.
But the reason most TTY equipment goes to the dump is that your last sentence
is quite literally true, if not quite in the way in which you meant it. Most
TTY collectors expect everything to be free for the taking.
