Well, thanks for not coming back too hard on me for the age brag. :)
My time at Western Union was one of the best. Started in 1968 and stopped in
1974. Working on Teletypes and other related stuff, like Trans-Jet stock
display equipment, Bomb Alarm systems, fax machines, sometimes helping the
lineman, and other stuff I have forgotton about was always varied and a challenge.
Did a lot of 28 work in those days. I always looked forward to going to work,
especially the time I spent in Wichita, KS. Worked with good people and had a
lot of fun. Was pretty well paid too! Was comparing salaries at a coffee
shop in Wichita one morning. Found out we made a little more than IBM guys, but
UPS guy was there also and he was the highest paid. Worked on my own in the
late 70's and 80's which was good, but depended on the amount of work for
income, so wasnt quite the same. Now, playing with 32 and 33's for hobbyist is
fun. Find myself helping out with parts and advice all over the USA and couple
times in UK.
Best to all,
Wayne
