Jack is so correct about machines not going out of adjustment.  It rarely 
happens, unless previous owner has done it.  Always do lots of visual checking on 
any model of teletype before you even think of moving adjustments.  When you 
do move one, make sure you can return it to pre-adjust position if it does not 
help.
