The reader power packs were mounted on the lip of the pedestal
underneath the pan (cast or sheet metal, depending on vintage) with a
pair of spring clips, which may or may not be easy to find.
The clips were usually a TTY tech's "Hell-Box" item, meaning they
could often be found in one's junque assortment.
As I recall, there were a couple of square or rectangular holes in
the metal bracket assy for the power pack, and the clips slipped into
the holes, and then the assembly was slipped over the thin metal of
the pedestal lip. Check at a good hardware house for spring or
s-clips.
Beware of the reader power pack. They can be quite conducive to
getting one knocked on his posterior. They are little more than a
diode, fuse, capacitor and a relay connected directly to the incoming
mains. NO ISOLATION TRANSFORMER, much akin to the old AC-DC Radio Do
not mess with it unless the machine is unplugged from the wall.
