I note that so far all the Tesla coils mentioned are spark-gap design...
anybody here have any experience with vacuum tube designs?  A local
electrical parts distributor supplied one to my science classes running a
201 and it really delivered some sparks.  A later version used a forest of
811As and was truly amazing!  When Tesla was demonstrating his wireless
transmission of power, particularly from the Colorado installation, did he
use spark-gap?  I recall seeing some Tesla designs for vacuum tube RF
generators some years ago in one of the electronics hobby periodicals.
