[GreenKeys] a tty file-sharing tool

Hi folks:

I normally just lurk in the background on the ex-teletype list, as I am not 
ex-teletype.  I am the moderator of the greenkeys tty/rtty email list, and 
I have a hobby site at www.baudot.net.

Today, I'd like to invite any interested parties on the ex-teletype list to 
join greenkeys using a file-sharing tool, at a site called 
www.onlinefilefolder.com

We created an online repository for us to share files.  We can all upload 
and download big-honkin' docs that are a pain to email or get organized on 
a web site (since we never seem to have time).  If you want a password, 
drop me a line, and I'll set you up.

There is not a lot of content yet, but there are some interesting r&d docs 
from the days of the M28 development, some info on M28 and M35 machines, 
and some rtty info.  We would love to get some other good stuff added by YOU!

This is YOUR area to share stuff.  Sort of a group website/blog kinda 
thing.  Please contribute anything which you may have in your personal 
stash of tty documents, pictures of your machines, pictures of machines 
you'd like to identify, etc.  Simply create your own top-level folder (and 
any sub folders that help organize things), and upload what ever you 
have.  It holds up to a gigabyte, and can be increased if necessary.  File 
size is not limited,unless you email to it.

Just like the name, it is literally an online file folder.  You don't need 
to use an ftp client, just point your browser to www.onlinefilefolder.com, 
log-in, and upload or download files.

To log in:
The username is baudot
The password is available from me, to ex-teletype members, by private email.

Once you log in, you will see the simple web browser interface.  There is a 
little folder directory tree on the left side -- to look inside different 
folders, you click on the folder names in the tree on the left side.

Once you select a folder, you see a list of the folder's current files in 
the center of the screen.  There are checkboxes beside the folder names so 
you can select specific files or folders to download, copy, move, rename, 
or delete.  If this is not your folder, do not change or delete any of 
these files, but feel free to select one or more to download to your pc.

If you wish to contribute, you can upload files directly, with no size 
limitations.  First, click on "Home" on the left side to select the top 
level.  Then click on the "New-Folder" button on the left side, and name 
the folder something like "stuff-from-gil."  Then click on your new folder 
to go into it (it is currently empty).  Then click on the "Add-File" 
button, above it.  A little window opens, you click on "Browse," navigate 
to select your file on your pc, then click "Start-Upload".  Sounds more 
complicated than it really is.

Alternately, you can quickly send a file, up to 20MB in size, by emailing 
it as an attachment to:    baudot at onlinefilefolder.com
In this case, you do not need the password, and the file gets dumped into a 
folder called "dropbox," from which I will move it to a logically-named 
folder somewhere.  However, since most of us are saddled with email sending 
size limitations of 5MB or so (imposed by our isps), I think most people 
will rather just log in and upload.


THE RULES:

   - You must be an ex-teletype member
   - No putting the password in ex-teletype or other public posts
   - No giving the password to anyone else (they must email me directly)
   - Only tty, rtty, and greenkeys sort of subject matter
   - No personal stuff -- get your own online folder
   - No deleting or moving other peoples files or folders
         (yes, you are actually able to delete everything!)
   - If you wish to add something, create your own descriptively-named
         top-level folder first (you can have sub-folders)
   - Name all your files descriptively, and use hyphens instead of spaces
         in the file name (when you download to a pc, spaces in a file name
         become %20, which is rather annoying)
    - Preferred formats are PDF, TXT, HTM, ZIP, MPG, and JPG, but others 
are ok.
    - Formats like DOC can harbor macro viruses (thanks to the idiots at 
microsoft),
         so create PDF versions, if you can.
   - I will likely grab files to post on baudot.net, but don't presume
         these files are backed up.
    - By posting something, you are agreeing to let others copy it.
    - As far as copyrighted material, well, Teletype Corp is history so no 
problem.
         And does WU or Siemens care about a few docs of sixty-year-old
                  machines?
         THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC SITE, just a private storage area for us, so 
I do
         not see how there would even be a copyright issue on content here.

So, send me an email, and I'll give you the password.
