RD,

You must have gotten Don House's reply. Even new old stock ones bust up
quickly due to materials failure from age. This topic has been a point of
discussion for some months on this list, and our best hope is that Don can
get them reproduced. Some home-grown workarounds seem to function, but
likely don't have long life.

Don is waiting for a new old stock (unbusted) part. If you can retrieve
all the bits of yours, and send them all to him, it *might* speed up his
process of getting a quote on new ones. But we hope he gets the undamaged
part soon. We also hope that the quote he gets back is affordable by all
of us with the same problem. I have two standalone M-28 typing
reperforators that need hammers, and I'd sure like to run at least one of
them for the next decade or two.

In the meantime, cast an eye around your places for any Model 14 typing
reperforator. If any you find can be made to run, that may turn out to be
the solution to making typed tapes (at 60 WPM only.)

Alternatively, I suppose we could disable the typing part, make the tapes
without the printed characters and either duplicate them later if needed,
or put the typing on the same tape somehow.
