Yes, we plan for the Baudot transmissions to be at 60WPM for that very reason.
As I said earlier, we look forward to our transmissions being copied by real men
with real Teletype machines.

All we've got at the station are electro-mechanical Teletype machines including
a very nice and fully operational 28ASR at the receive station, this rescued on
its way to the dump. We copied George's on the air transmissions from his
experimental station and his Internet transmissions just to have the music of
the 28 pounding out copy at the station. We're also planning to establish a
land line TTY order wire between the transmit and receive stations, which was
standard procedure in the past. So so you can see that we're TTY fans ourselves.

As I mentioned in the announcement, we can't say yet when we will be able to be
on the air. We'll address that issue at our next weekend meeting. The first
transmitter on the air will be one of the ex-KPH Henry 5kW SITOR transmitters.
Over the long term, we might put one of the classic RCA transmitters from the
1950s on RTTY. But this would be a big job as they use large tube type
frequency shift keyers in the racks in the control room.

In any case, being on RTTY was one of our goals from the beginning. Now that we
have the authorization to do so we look forward to our first transmissions.

I wonder if you could forward this message to the Greenkeys list so the members
can read it?

Best Regards,

RD
