[GreenKeys] Troubleshooting ASR32

I'm sure the fine folks here have already dealt with this sort of issue
too many times for it to be interesting and so I apologize in advance.
I'm trying to solve a problem with my ASR32. I'm not quite sure how it
happened, but it is stuck in the FIGS printing mode, and no matter how
many times I hammer on the LTRS key (and no matter how forcefully either
for that matter :) it will not print any letters.
Before this, something was wrong (again*) and the letters were not
printing properly, e.g. hitting G produced D, etc.
This very unit was used in the filming of an upcoming Richard Gere movie
called "The Hoax" (to be released this summer I think). It was shipped
back from the New York filming site and, despite my best attempts to
prevent the FINE FOLKS at Fedex from turning this intricate piece of
machinery into a pile of cams and springs, they did manage to break the
paper lid and probably jarred something loose or jarred something tight
somewhere which I believe is responsible for the erroneous printing. An
appropriate adhesive fixed the break in the plastic, but I've been
confounded as to why the letters aren't printing properly, and I've
already spent enough time on it that my admittedly limited expertise
fixing these things has been exhausted.
* I had a similar problem with the wrong characters being printed when I
shipped this to New York. It turns out one of the tines on the PTR was
dislodged and causing a stuck bit. It took several hours to find this
(and I owe Mr. House another thanks for his extremely gracious telephone
assist). However, this time there is a different problem as the PTR seems
to be fine.
To re-cap, the only problem this had when I first fired it up (and this
was the first time since it was returned from NY) is that the letters were
not printing correctly (e.g. hitting G produced D). After I started
futzing around it got stuck into FIGS mode. I'm not sure if one problem
led to the next.
Any ideas? First I need to fix this blasted FIGS problem, and then if
there's still a problem with the wrong letters being printed I'll tackle
that next.
Thanks for any and all help!
