I built my first T.U. from the ARRL Handbook.
As I recall it was a W2PAT, but not sure. It used sweep coils
for the tuned circuits. It worked quite well.
Next (and still in use today) the ST-6 from HAL.
QUESTION FOR ALL OF YOU THAT BUILT A ST-6:
What did you do to align the tuned circuits?
I brought home a frequency counter and audio oscillator from
work. I had access to a *HUGE* shoebox full of capacitors that
were removed from junker televisions.I mixed and matched them
until the tank circuit peaked at the correct frequency. That had
to be the tough way of doing it, plus for some reason, the horizontal
elipse (on the "O" scope) had a pair of spikes on it that I have
never gotten rid of.
And speaking of operating cw...
