Reminds of time at my Air Guard unit when  we were getting ready for an inspection. I had been testing our 60cps 115v outlets in the RADAR shop for proper polarity and grounding. I found one on the AN/APN-22 Low Range RADAR altimeter test bench that was wired incorrectly. I corrected it and proceeded to plug in the Calibrator test set APM66 which had one of these universal connectors that fit all of that type of military test  equipment and a big bang and flash of fire ensued. Of course there always has to be a witness or two around when these things transpire. I learned about that polarity issue the hard way on those connectors.  The case of the test set was grounded thru the test bench by just sitting on it. Thank goodness for fuses and circuit breakers. No injuries or damage other than my pride.
