The SRT-14/15/16 series were the first synthesized transmitters, using an 
all tube exciter... 76 tubes or so (1955)  The URC 32 first arrived aboard 
my DDR during a 1960 yard period.  Kind of a "lightweight" compared to the 
bulky SRT's  :-)  The URC32 shared it's limelight with the WRT-1 and WRT-2 
xmtrs, among others.
