I stand to agree with Robert Downs. I buy more than I sell on eBay
but I try my best to be a good "eBayer" Between 1999 and 2001 I
provided my company with a large savings of about $77,000 by
purchasing test equipment on eBay. At the time the eBay policies
were a bit loose to say the least. In addition to the savings, I
have to honestly report that I lost the company, and a couple of
friends, about $3,500. to scam artists. The most you could get back
at the time was $75.00.

Things have changed dramatically from those days. I make it a
regular practice to report things that look very suspicious. In the
past replies were very few and far between. The people are more
responsive now because they have to be to stay in business and
continue to grow. There is now even a telephone number you can call
if you want to report a problem.

Dave,

I could (but won't) give numerous examples proving that ain't so. eBay
doesn't treat sellers any better than they do buyers. More often
than not, it'
tends to be the other way around. Their bottom line interest is only
in making
money. Every sale requires a seller and a buyer. Which one
technically pays
the fees is really immaterial to them. However, actual fraud can
cost them
money, so generally they would prefer to supress it.
